Role overview

As a Working Supervisor, you’ll play a key role in supporting the Service Manager while continuing to work on the tools. You'll help drive workshop efficiency, maintain high-quality repair standards, and support the development of your team — all while ensuring machinery is serviced and repaired in a timely, customer-focused manner.


Key Responsibilities:

Supervisory Duties

  • Support and deputise for the Service Manager when required.
  • Help coordinate daily workshop operations, allocating work and managing workflow.
  • Coach and mentor Technicians, promoting a “right first time” approach to all repairs.
  • Maintain workshop standards in cleanliness, safety, and organisation.
  • Communicate effectively with customers, offering diagnostics support when needed.
  • Support technician development through on-the-job training and task delegation.

Technical Duties

  • Carry out diagnostics, repairs, and servicing on agricultural machinery both in-depot and on-site.
  • Complete timecards accurately and follow company service procedures.
  • Use diagnostic tools and technical knowledge to troubleshoot complex issues.
  • Ensure all warranty parts are tagged and recorded properly.
  • Maintain tool inventory and recommend additions to the Service Manager as needed.
  • Collaborate with the Sales, Parts, and Logistics teams to ensure smooth operations.
  • Represent Ripon Farm Services and John Deere in a professional and positive manner.

What We’re Looking For:

  • 3–5 years’ experience as a Service Technician (agricultural or related industry).
  • Leadership qualities and the ability to guide, support, and motivate a team.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • High attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
  • Familiarity with John Deere products (or similar brands).
  • Confident in using diagnostic tools and standard computer applications.
  • Willingness to work extended hours and weekends when required.
  • A customer-first mindset, positive attitude, and team player approach.
  • Full valid driving licence (essential)
