Service Operations Manager

The Company:

Smallridge Bros Ltd is a successful John Deere tractor and agricultural machinery dealer operating 4 depots across Devon and Cornwall. The business employs the largest team of highly skilled agricultural service technicians in the region, based both in the field and at our 4 service centres. The Smallridge Bros service department continues to grow, and is expanding its team of technicians to meet the demands of our industry and the exciting technical developments in the machines that we maintain.

The Position:

The Operations Manager will take ownership, across the groups’ 4 depots, of our industry leading customer monitoring and communication systems and ensure timely maintenance and a professional service experience for our customers at all times of the year, with the following day to day duties:

· Maintenance contracts - Management of contracts using John Deere remote service tools, including remote machine diagnostics

· Technical Data - Relaying remote data from machines to service team to ensure thorough and professional service work, on time – in full

· Customer Records - Maintain records of machine status and ownership on our systems

· Product Updates - Take responsibility for John Deere product updates, keep the team informed and monitor timely completion

· Technical Support - Provide phone support to customers to optimise the performance of their equipment

· Customer Feedback - Collaborate with other departments by sharing information to help improve the overall service level offered by the business

The Person:

The ideal candidate will have the motivation to become a service management professional in a business at the leading edge of agricultural technology. Familiarity with John Deere machinery would be an advantage. Ideal candidates may be an agricultural service technician with ambition to move into a management role, or a service department manager looking to develop their career. Similarly a recent graduate in a related field may be considered for the role. The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate the following skills:

· Technical Experience - Industry experience and product knowledge an advantage but a related educational background will be considered for the right candidate

· Commercial - A customer & sales focused approach to work

· Ambition - Ambition and ability to progress into a management role

· IT - Confidence in operating computer applications and app based systems

· Communication - Excellent written and communication skills, and confidence under pressure
